End of the Road - Vehicle Donation Program
All proceeds go to the Teen Challenge operating fund to help students with life-controlling problems like addiction. Here's a brief outline Teen Challenge of the Midlands' auto donation process.:
- We schedule the time for a free pickup or tow.
- We call you the day of pickup to confirm and let you know we are en-route.
- All we need are vehicle keys and the title, signed by everyone listed as "owner" on the title.
- At the time of pickup, we'll remove and return your old plates, and issue you a very simple receipt that shows that we took possession of the vehicle. It also shows that our liability insurance is activated at that moment.
- Once the car arrives at our facility, we'll complete the titling paperwork and mail your "501(C)3 donation" tax-deductible receipt. If your donation sells for more than $500.00 we are required to report this to you and the IRS. If this occurs, we will send you a completed Form 1098C for your records within 30 days of the donation.
- During afternoon work call, our students will do minor repair work and detail the vehicle. As licensed dealers, we will then either sell the car at auction or to one of several local used car dealers. We also receive many irreparable vehicles which we sell to a salvage yard.
